(Q4 2023)
This project originally started out as a 3 week modeling final but as I experimenting with different ways to render it, I decided spend my last week on the assignment recreating the gameplay mechanics of the Banshee in Unreal Engine 5.
I spent 3 days getting the initial mechanics working such as flight capabilities, boost w/ contrails, manipulating the engine sound with the speed, a dynamic reticle, and firing the plasma cannons.
After this, I spent the next 4 days straight creating the demo. From the title screen, environment, dialog, objectives, everything.
The game itself was not at all made for the grade of the original assignment, it was more a matter of seeing how hard I could push myself to create something 'massive' in a very short amount of time.
As far as the name "Halo 335", it derived from the class course number being DAGD-335 and the name kind of grew on me.
The model was completed over 3 weeks with the modeling itself being done in Blender and the texturing being completed in Substance Painter.
I referenced a lot from the Halo 1 banshee design, while also incorporating some elements from Halo 3.
